The Balfour Beatty VINCI project team had concerns that the use of conventional breakers to reduce the levels for the Guide slab would cause severe fracturing of the sandstone. A J Gammond Ltd were invited to attend a site meeting, where they quickly identified that the use of the breakers was causing fractures of over one metre in depth. The project team agreed that to eliminate this risk they would use the Rock Hawg Surface Miner. Congratulations to the Grydale team who designed, manufactured and tested twelve mobile dust collectors in record time. The units are scheduled to arrive in the UK at the end of June and will be commissioned on site within 4 months of orders being placed.
