Supporting UK Health in Construction

August 2nd, 2021|0 Comments

Construction workers in the UK are 100 times more likely to die from an occupational disease than a workplace accident." Grydale® are proud to be members of the Health in Construction Leadership Group (HCLG) in the UK. We hope to be able to support their work through raising awareness of new engineering control solutions for the management of dust within construction industries. The HCLG was formed after a challenge from the Health and Safety Executive Construction Industry Advisory Committee (ConIAC) for the industry to do more to ‘Think Health’ and respond to the influence of ‘Construction 2025’, the UK Industry Strategy for Construction. Respirable diseases are a key focus area for the group, who are committed to eliminating respiratory disease in the construction sector and raise awareness of the causes of respiratory disease as well as the appropriate control measures which should be in place to protect workers. The HCLG [...]

  • Our JMS 30 MDT is both Europe and USA's first dust collector

Another JMS-30-MDT headed for Overseas Market

July 30th, 2021|0 Comments

The JMS-30-MDT is one of the most versatile models within our range of mobile dust collection units. The unit can provide both dust collection at source working alongside excavation equipment such as surface miners and trenchers and it can also support general ventilation. The multiple side air intakes also allow it to be connected to multiple sources simultaneously for example rock hammers working within a confined space. The versatility of this unit is the reason why it was the first in our fleet of Mobile Dust Collectors in the UK and Europe and also the first unit to be en-route to build our fleet in the USA. The key modification that has taken place between the manufacture of these two units is the reduction in overall width, achieved by bringing the tracks in line with the skid to give our new JMS-30-MDT units a maximum width of 2830mm. Our engineering [...]

Refurbished JMS-60-MES Joins Grydale Rental Fleet and Heads to BHP Mine Site for Shutdown Works

July 15th, 2021|0 Comments

Fully refurbished and now featuring our latest technology and product improvements, the Grydale JMS-60-MES is the latest unit to join the Grydale Rental fleet of mobile dust collectors. The JMS-60-MES previously provided general ventilation and dust control on the Metro Tunnel project in Melbourne, Victoria and was purchased back from the project to be refurbished at our manufacturing facilities. The unit will shortly be leaving for South Australia where it will provide general ventilation during mine shut down works for BHP. The JMS-60-MES is the largest dust collector in our growing rental fleet and provides 60m3/s of airflow. Product improvements made to the unit during refurbishment have included the following (all standard on new units): The dual discharge augers have been replaced with a single crossover discharge auger with a chain drive mechanism to increase reliability and facilitate ease of maintenance onsite. The incline discharge auger also allows [...]

The prestigious North American tunnelling event, Rapid Excavation and Tunneling Conference (RETC) occurs every two years and is a widely-recognized event dedicated to tunnelling innovation. The conference brings together industry heavy hitters – project owners, engineers, consultants, manufacturers, and service providers to collectively discuss challenges in the industry and learn from one another. As tunnels get larger, deeper, and excavated in more challenging conditions, expectations are continually increasing for tunnels that are completed quickly, safely, and sustainably. The 2021 event in Las Vegas did not disappoint, with over 100 exhibitors and 600 attendees. Grydale USA (Craig Allan, VP of Sales & Operations and Liz Stone, Marketing & Business Development Manager) joined the conference as a first-time exhibitor to raise awareness about internationally patented mobile dust collection units as part of Grydales’ international growth strategy into North America. Our involvement could not have been timelier, as dust control was a [...]

Revolutionary Range of Mobile Dust Collectors Enters U.S. Market

June 12th, 2021|0 Comments

Simplifying Compliance and Improving Worker Safety Within Construction Industries Silicosis is the most common occupational lung disease worldwide, and often referred to as the ‘modern day asbestos’. It’s estimated that up to 2 million construction workers in the United States have had exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS), with an estimated 840,000 of them working in environments that exceed the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL). As dust control regulations and public interest in workplace safety increases, market demand for dust control solutions is on the rise. At both the federal and local level, regulations including those by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) are being enforced to protect workers in a variety of industries such as tunneling, mining, abrasive blasting, bulk material handling, excavation, civil construction and demolition. Grydale is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) developing a global reputation for revolutionizing approaches to dust extraction and ventilation design. Their [...]
