Ventilation Design
The Air is Clean
Grydale has extensive experience in tunnel ventilation design. Our engineering team are able to prepare a comprehensive design to control air quality in accordance with regulations and site requirements.
Air flow, control of dust and diesel particulates contamination, power consumption and noise abatement are all key areas that are taken into consideration along with being able to make recommendations for in-tunnel environmental monitoring systems.
- Prepare a high-level comparison of ventilation options, providing advantages and disadvantages of each approach.
- Recommend and present the most favourable ventilation option.
- Collect data to prepare a systems level specification and concept design.
- Undertake detailed design for each phase of construction, prepare and present a design documentation pack.
We use a range of numerical simulation tools to prepare the design, including:
– Ventsimâ„¢ DESIGN 5 for ventilation design and simulation.
– Autodesk CFD for three-dimensional ventilation design and simulation
– Autodesk Inventor for mechanical/structural design, if required.
– Verification by model review, structural simulation, or hand calculations as appropriate.
For the duration of the works, Grydale are able to provide project management and engineering support for the ventilation works and provide updated plans if site conditions or requirements change.
Grydale manufacture a range of mobile dust collectors with air volumes from 10m3/s to 60m3/s.
The Grydale JMS M-Series of Dust Collectors are developing a reputation for being the most efficient dust collection units in the world. Transforming traditional approaches to dust extraction by providing collection at source and also providing an effective general ventilation solution.
Grydale focuses on adding value through a total service offering, supported by our in-house engineering team to ensure the right solution is provided to meet workplace health and safety regulations and application needs.
How do Grydale Mobile Dust Collectors Work?

Air is pulled through the dirty air intake by the Centrifugal Fan.
Larger dust particles drop through the Drop Out Box and are separated from the air stream.
Dust and fumes are trapped on the filters forming a cake on the surface as air passes through the filter house.
Reverse pulse filter cleaning system cleans the filters.
Dust particles are discharged from the machine via the augers and rotary valves.
The velocity probe monitors air speed and then turns the centrifugal fan up / down to maintain air volume.
Clean air exhausts from the machine with a filtration efficiency of 99.99% at 0.067 micron.
